Clint Harp parked in the driveway of an abandoned house, took a deep breath, and started crying. Just four months earlier, he had quit his lucrative job in medical sales in Houston and moved his wife, Kelly, and three kids to Waco, all to pursue his passion of making furniture. Now, with no solid leads, no business coming in, and almost no money left, he was ready to abandon it all.

After a lot of thought and consideration, we decided to close to doors to Harp Design Co. As Creative Director, Hanna immersed her early training in furniture design at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she apprenticed under industry masters. Hanna’s philosophy on interior design is grounded in both human emotions and visual impact — how a space looks is just as important as how it makes you feel. Harper & Bright Designs was founded in Los Angeles, California and was created to celebrate both living room and bedroom furniture and to help people design those spaces the way they should be with our inventories.

Whether traveling, or hanging out at home- if I’m with my family, I’m happy. I love custom projects that allow me to make unique pieces even more. But, my favorite thing to do at Harp is to turn on the lathe- Bowls, bottles, candlesticks- anything on the lathe. Tour buses began circling Waco, passing his workshop and retail store on a near-hourly basis, and suddenly, he was getting stopped on the street. But while some design stars complain about the fame, Clint's psyched to have the chance to touch someone's life.
"Creating doesn’t just have to be furniture—it can be a TV show, a podcast, a book, or any other thing that might spark me," Harp said. "I like to try new things. So, that’s what I’m going to do." Harp said the decision came down to reaching their "limit" with obligations to other business ventures and raising a family. "After a lot of thought and consideration, we have decided it is time to close the doors to Harp Design Co.," the couple said.

Cultivating togetherness is the heartbeat of everything we do. “She said, ‘I want you to know I don’t love you because of some feeling. As Fixer Upper became a ratings juggernaut, bringing in more than 2.1 million viewers an episode, Clint’s life hit warp speed. Orders went through the roof — and so did requests for him to speak at conferences and events. "These people want to produce a show with us and pitch it to HGTV," Joanna told him one day. He was all in — and before he knew it, he was a regular on the home renovation show. "I believe that wherever you can make connections, make connections, so I called him and left a message," Clint says.

"You never know what those things you’re going through are for, or what they’re leading you to," he says. "It may lead to something even more difficult that then becomes something great — I don’t know. I would never have even been at that gas station if it weren’t for all these other things in my life." Harp said the company is not accepting any new table orders, but there are a few items left for sale online. He will also be signing crafted items from the company until the last day of operation. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and kids.
